I hope you don't mind me reviving this old thread but it's that time again though this time it's my daughter and not my son. This is what I was going to put on our tax returns based on what you told me last year for my son. Are you able to confirm that I am doing this right? Thank you so much!

Box 1: $963
Box 5: $3,165
College 2
Box 1: $959
Box 5: $0
Books/Other (For both colleges): $1,192
Am I correct in assuming I fill this out like the above and enter $3,165 for room & board on MY tax return and then on my DAUGHTER'S return put $0 in box 1 for both schools and in box 5 put $3,165 and $0 for each college respectively. Or do I even need to add College 2 to her return?
