Q. Do you think I would receive credit for 2021 & 2022 still given the circumstances?
A. Yes. The AOTC is only 40 % refundable, so the most you could get is $1000 + interest.
There is a 4 time limit for claiming the AOTC. The AOTC is only good for undergrad college. So, if you will still be an undergrad in 2025 and/or 2026, you may want to use it then (worth up to $2500), instead of for 2021 and 2022. The time limit for filing 2021 is 4/15/25.
