Q. I was enrolled in college but quit after completing just one course. Can I still deduct the costs of my tuition for that one class and my laptop/school supply expenses?
A. Yes. You do not have to complete the course to claim the credit, as long as you actually paid for the course. Since you were less than half time, you only qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) not the more generous American Opportunity Credit (AOC or AOTC).
