Q. How do I find out the amount of scholarship funds in my tax return?
A. It depends on what you mean by "amount of scholarship funds". The taxable portion of your scholarships will show on line 8r of Schedule 1 (line 8z prior to 2022). The taxable portion is calculated on the TurboTax (TT) work sheets, not on actual IRS forms.
If you are looking for total scholarship amounts awarded, that will not show anywhere on the IRS forms. You get that from your own records. The school will usually report all scholarships, received by them directly, in box 5 of the 1098-T form. In the TT interview, you will be asked to enter any additional scholarships, not shown on the 1098-T. So, that information may be available in the works sheets.
