Here's how to enter your student loan interest. Follow these instructions whether you received a 1098-E from your lender:
- Open (continue) your return in TurboTax.
- Search for 1098-E and select the Jump to link at the top of the search results.
- Answer Yes to the question Did you get a 1098-E for student loan interest?
- If you land on the Here's your 1098-E info (or Here's what you paid in student loan interest)screen, you can either edit an existing payment or add a new one.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your 1098-E information.
Student loan interest is reported on Form 1098-E. If you paid interest of $600 or more on a qualified student loan during the year, you'll receive this form from your lender.
