Education

@RobertB4444

Hey Robert, Thanks for your response.

I am filing returns for my college age children, and yes they qualify. I have had this issue with TurboTax every year for the last several years with all 3 of my kids. If you go through the questions for the education section, it doesn't ask you to enter your 1098T, it just skips it. Then when you are done, you have to go back in and edit that section to enter the 1098T. It has been a glitch for a long time in some versions of the software. The first year I filed for my oldest in their first year of college it happened and I missed it. I just thought my kid didn't qualify. We missed the credit that year and I had to file an amended return for them. The next year, I looked extra carefully to see if it was my fault, and again it wasn't there, I seriously looked hard, and went through it again and again and it wasn't there...but I knew how to get back to that section after it was complete and edit it. Now every year, with all my kids, I have had to do the work around. I just had to do it with both of my youngest kids. Thankfully, it is both of their last years in college and I won't have to worry about it again.

I just wonder how many others have had this issue? How many kids doing their own taxes have missed the credit due to it. I am a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and have used Intuit products for almost 30 years... if it caused an issue for me, it definitely will for those less experienced. So, I came here to let other's that are having the problem know, it is still an issue.
