1098-T Form Exception

My employer fully paid for a 6 months bootcamp that I attended. Since the tuition was more than 5,250 I am trying to get the Lifetime Learning Credit.

I talked to one of the representatives at my tuition assistance program and asked if they issue a 1098-T, her answer was "the boot camp is a certificate program that does not meet the academic credit regulations required by the IRS for us to issue the 1098-T form."

Could I qualify for a 1098-T form exception?
