Education credit - I am qualified for a Lifetime Learning Credit up to $2,000. Then it says I am not qualified here? No scholarships, over $2k expense?

I am not anyone's dependent.  I have no scholarships, or grants.  I have a net education expense over $2k, why is it saying I am not eligible for any tax credit when I qualify for the Lifetime Learning credit.  I went to school part time and it is for a graduate degree which is covered.
