529 and scholarship
Hi,
My daughter is a full-time undergrad student. She got paid a $1250 scholarship last year. The rest of her fees, room and board came from a 529. She had no other income.
The 1099-Q is in my name because we paid out of pocket and we asked for the distributions to be paid to us to cover the costs.
1. Does she have to file taxes to show the $1250 income?
2. Does any of the 1099-Q go on her tax return? NOTE: The 1099-Q is *not* in her name.
Thanks.
