529 Bug?
I discovered that after entering the disbursement (qualified) and tuition charges that I was having to pay taxes on the disbursement.
Tuition screen warned that I was above the income limit but also advised to enter amount anyway for 529 type plans.
I found an online article from several years ago that suggested deleting the entries and walking through the wizard again. I did that and this time no taxes on disbursement.
Disappointing that the application lets you enter things out of order but then doesn't calculate properly and more disappointing that its been this way for years.
My question is more general in nature - are there other areas of the program that can't handle having things entered outside of the wizard order?
I think of all the times, through many years, I've chosen the "I'll choose what I work on" option in the program and wonder what that has done to me.
In the 529 case the difference in tax bourdon was $1,600. To me, TT calculating my tax incorrectly because the program let me enter the disbursement before the tuition is like Excel telling me that -2 - 2 = 0.
