Being away, from your parent's home, at college, even living off campus, does not qualify as "living on my own", for tax dependent purposes (and probably not for FASFA either).
"lived with my mother my whole life, but stayed with father for the majority of this year" may complicate who can claim you as a dependent, but you (probably) can't claim yourself, by being away at college.
