For others reading this, there is no 5 month rule, for this tax benefit. The rule is
- Student must be enrolled at least half-time for at least one academic period that
begins during 2020 (or the first 3 months of 2021, if tuition was paid in 2020)
So a quarter (rather than a semester) or even a short summer session would qualify.
