Kansas taxpayers may take an annual deduction of up to $3,000 ($6,000 for married, filing jointly) from Kansas adjusted gross income for contributions into each beneficiary's Learning Quest, Learning Quest Advisor, or Schwab 529 account or contributions to a 529 plan sponsored by any other state. To enter your 529 contributions on your Kansas return, please follow these steps:
- Go into your KS return.
- If you haven't finished going through the interview, continue to the screen, Here's the income that Kansas handles differently.
- If you've already completed the KS interview, you will see the screen Your 2020 Kansas taxes are ready for us to check.
- Click the Edit box next to Income. You will now see the screen, Here's the income that Kansas handles differently.
- Under Education, click the Start box next to Learning Quest Education Contributions.
- Enter your contributions on the next screen.
