No, receipts that support expenses claimed on your tax return should be safely stored with your copy of you tax return and similar records for at least three years following the due date of your tax return.
Please be aware, that while tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance are qualifying expenses for all three federal education benefit programs, books and materials are only allowable for the American Opportunity Tax Credit.
