Education
An employer may give an employee up to 5,250 per year in education assistance.
Up to that amount is not taxable to the employee/student.
Normally that amount is listed on the W-2 and any amount over is included in Box 1 of the W-2.
You would need to find out from payroll if the amount over the 5,250 is included in Box 1 of your W-2.
And also, if the amount over 5,250 is included in Box 5 of the 1098-T?
Is the 9,975 on the 1098-T in box 1 or 5?
