When the amount on your 1099-Misc is shown in Box 7 (NonEmployee Compensation), TurboTax wants to categorize it as Self-Employment Income.
Pay close attention to the follow-up questions after you enter your 1099-Misc. Choose 'None' from the list of 1099-Misc income types.
Choose '...Not Main Job' and choose 'No intent to earn money..' (screenshots).
This will report the income as Other Income.
