I Understand the only part reported to federal government is Form 8863 and that is precisely the concern of this person and mine as well; on line 23 of Form 8863 it says: Has the American Opportunity Credit been claimed in the past 4 years? The correct answer should be YES and not NO. TurboTax may be looking at the previous year and report NO, but the form 8863 is not asking for only previous year in line 23.
