The Filer's Federal ID Number (FEIN) is used for the university's identification. This box on your Form 1098-T will have your university's FEIN and sometimes the phone number. This is not your identification number. If you are not seeing a number in this box you will need to contact your university's registrar for this information. Check with the university to verify the information on your 1098T is correct and than enter information in as you see it on your return.
