Education
Airline tickets, room and board and required trips are not qualified education expenses, your can't deduct them, unfortunately.
The tuition for studying abroad is deductible as a qualified education expense if it is paid to a qualified school. A qualified school is any college, university, or other post-secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program Administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
You can check online, using U.S. Federal Student Aid link to check if your university is qualified educational institution for tax education purposes.
