If only one of you actually owns the business, you're fine. It still doesn't change things for you in a community property state. The thing is, the SE tax is only applied to that owner's Medicare and Social Security account. I'm self employed too, and only I own the business and only file one SCH C. My wife is employed as a W-2 employee (not by be) so her SS and Medicare contributions are based on her earnings.
