I am trying to do a final return for my father's estate. His estate uses calendar year so his last return ended 12/31/21. The short year is from 1/1/22-7/31/22. Since 2021 Turbotax will not be available for a while, I am using 2021. Unfortunately, 2021 Turbotax Business does not accept a start date of 1/1/22. It does accept end date of 7/31/22. it looks like the start date has to be in 2021. I know people do short returns all the time for final returns - How do I do this? I have the return complete, just the start date is not correct.
Would it be acceptable to write 2022 on the return and then mail it in?
