This experience can occur if Form 1099-MISC is entered under the income topic rather than under the Rental/Royalties section.
To review your royalty entry, follow these steps:
- Open your return and click on Federal >> Wages & Income >> Rentals, Royalties, and Farm >> Revisit Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E).
- Continue through the interview until you come to the Income section. You may need to confirm that the 1099-MISC you entered is related to the Royalty Property you set up. Review the entries for this 1099-MISC
- Be sure to address any topics that say "Needs Review" before you click Done for this royalty property.
When you finish, run Review again to confirm the SmartCheck message has resolved.
