file using 2021 forms with a fiscal year ending in 2022. if you tried using 2022 forms it wouldn't work and those forms won't be available til 2024. the 1099 is filed on a 2021 form for the payments made through 12/31/2021.
the heirs will report their k-1 on their 2022 returns.
