If you received income on a 1099-NEC, 1099-Misc or 1099-K, you may be considered self-employed for tax purposes.

 

Many "gig" work jobs pay you on a 1099-K or 1099-NEC. If you do not have a 1099 at all, but you were self employed last year, it may be carrying forward from last year.
