This error is caused by entering $0 in state adjustments on the New York tax return. Here is how to fix it:
- Click on State on the left side menu.
- Select Your State Returns at the top center.
- Click Edit to the right of New York.
- Click Continue.
- On the screen titled, You Just Finished Your New York Return, select Changes to Federal income.
- Scroll down to Other New York Adjustment to Federal Income, and go through all of them and delete the zeros. If a topic doesn't apply, leave it blank.
