Mom passed during the year do I need to file a 1041 with Schedule E showing 0 taxable income? What are consequences of not filing
My mom passed in 2017 so I am looking at whether I need to file a 1041. The only gross income she had was rent, but the schedule E nets to 0; then with attorney fees she has negative taxable income. Do I need to file a return? Seems like a waste of time and paper. What are the consequences of not filing a "0" tax return?
