A worker being treated as an independent contractor may be considered to be a statutory employee with income reported on Form W-2.
If you have never been classified as or you know you are not a statutory employee, you should review the information entered for your Form W-2.
To look at your W-2 wage information, please:
- Click on Federal in the column on the left side
- Click on Wages and Income
- Click Edit/Add button beside your W-2 information
- Click Edit beside your Form W-2
- Scroll to the Box 13 questions.
- Is the box beside Statutory employee checked? (See the screenshot below)

Uncheck the box if it is checked.
