A recovery period or class life is the length of time an asset should last so to speak. It is the amount of time the IRS has determined you can depreciate an asset. It is also referred to as Class Life Asset Depreciation Range (CLADR). The IRS has specific rules about how long you must depreciate assets and other details associated with them.
