Your problem could be caused by how you entered the Form 1099-C. First delete the form and then re-enter the information as a Schedule C. Once you delete the form and re-enter it correctly, you should be able to see the steps that MindyB mentioned.
Here are the steps to delete your Form 1099-NEC:
- Open your return.
- Go to Tax Home
- Select Tax Tools in the left menu
- Click on Tools
- A pop-up will come out called Tool Center
- Select Delete a form
- Select Delete next to the Form 1099-NEC that you want to delete
To enter the self-employment income and expenses:
- Open or continue your return
- Go to Schedule C
- Enter your income information
- On the question, Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? Answer yes
- Select any expense categories you have
- A list of the expenses you selected will come up on the next screen and you can edit each category
- Enter the expense you have
