Are you Self-Employed? If so, you will enter info about your Business, then add your 1099-NEC as Business Income in the Self-Employed Income and Expenses section, which will be reported on Schedule C. If this applies, here's more info on Form 1099-NEC and Reporting Self Employment Income.
If not, and received a one-time payment reported on a 1099-NEC, you can add it to your return as Miscellaneous Income.
- On the Income Topics page, scroll all the way down to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, choose Start/Update.
- On the next page, scroll all the way to Other Reportable Income, say Yes to Other Taxable Income
- On the next page, enter a description of the Income and Amount
