This prompt asks whether there should be an adjustment for an HSA you may have had prior to 2011. If you didn't have an HSA in those years, enter 0. If you did have a HSA in those years, enter any balance of your HSA as of December 31, 2010 less amounts distributed in 2011-2023. You may have accidently skipped the screen, Adjustments for Pre-2011 Contributions, when completing your Wisconsin return.
Per the Wisconsin Schedule I instructions, Wisconsin follows the federal treatment of distributions from an HSA for 2011-2024. However, if a portion of your distribution was allocated to the balance in your HSA as of December 31, 2010, you may be able to treat all or part of the distribution as a medical expense.
