Yes, we have been waiting for the callback, which I was told would happen 3/19/24 after our 2 1/2 conversation with 3 TT representatives plus a fourth expert in conversation with the third, and we have received no call. Yes, there are calculations on page 3. We are very familiar with page 3 of Form 8582, as TT has prepared it (the user does not prepare this form) with data that flows from Schedule E and Forms 4835 and 4797, and we have filed it with our return for decades. The top of page 3 says it "must" be filed with the return.
Yes, we have updated TT. Every time we open the program, it checks for updates. Yes, we have cleared the cache and cookies. One of the three TT representatives went through that process with us. As we told all your representatives, in Forms View, we can select and view page 3 of Form 8582, but we cannot print it there. When we try to print it while we are viewing page 3, TT only prints pages 1 and 2. When we bring up the full return (Form 1040 and all attachments to be filed with IRS), we can see all the forms to be filed, including pages 1 and 2 or Form 8582, but not page 3.
We don't think it has anything to do with the data on Form 8582. TT has clearly prepared the form from the data which flows from other forms. As we told your representatives, when looking at the forms view, the list of forms shows "page 1," "page 2," and "page 3 - COPY 1." It appears the problem may be with the reference to "copy 1." There is no original or plain page 3. We have tried deleting the page 3 copy 1, in hopes it would generate a regular page 3, but it will not delete. The "copy" remains in the forms list. This appears to be a TT software problem, which has nothing to do with the data entry aspect.
