Perhaps in my trying to be generic and less specific I may not have been clear. instead of "Should I combine my farm business and rental on the farm into one business?" I should have said: "should I combine my farm business which is an Apiary (or livestock) and a rental property ( a house that is rented to tenants)?".
When TurboTax asks if I want to combine, it meets all of the items listed such as the house being rented is on the physical farm property adjacent to the apiary operations.
I wouldn't had even thought of combining except that TurboTax asked and because my income falls into the doughnut hole where I can't deduct losses from the rental property. I thought this might be a way to finally write off some of the losses on the rental property (house).
