JV ji, please can you provide the following -- when did you enter USA as F-1, when did you depart, did you complete all the paperwork when leaving in March of 2017 ---- I am assuming that you are an Indian citizen and as of March 2017, you have closer connection to India than USA ??
Without the particulars needed , the best case is that you are a Non-Resident Alien and therefore US will tax you only on your US sourced income. Did you have any US income during 2017? Is that why you are filinga US return?
