I work in Houston (tax home) on weekdays. I travel to Dallas (family home) for weekends and holidays, 250 miles each way. Can I claim vehicle expenses?

My employer does not require this travel.  I would like to claim my vehicle mileage.  Does my situation fit Example 2 of the section regarding Tax Home Different From Family Home on the IRS website?
