Deductions & credits

You can add that to your Sales Tax Calculation.

You do not even have to enter other receipts.  If you use the “Easy Guide” you will work your way through the questions.

To enter major purchases:

  • Log into your return
  • Click on Federal
  • Click on Deductions & Credits
  • Click the button beside Sales Tax (If necessary click Show more beside "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid")
  • Click the appropriate button (Mine is Continue with Sales Tax)
  • Click on Easy Guide
  • You will be asked for the range of dates you lived in your state
  • Enter your state & local sales tax rate
  • You will come to the Enter Major Purchases screen  (See the screenshot below)
  • You can add your truck information there.

You didn't indicate what state you lived in, so I can't give you a specific link to find your sales tax rate.  Below are several suggestions for finding your sales tax rate:

1.  You can look at a sales receipt (that you know was purchased in your county)

2.  You can google sales tax rate for (your state)

3.  Or you can click here to go to your state's Department of Revenue. You can search for the state sales tax rates once you are at your state's website.
