The impact it could have for your 2016 tax year return would be the tax-ability of any State refunds you may have received.
If you received a refund from the State in 2016 (from the tax year 2015) and you took the "standard deduction" it is not taxable.
If you received a refund and you itemized:
If you took the option of "income taxes" (schedule A line 5a) the refund is taxable
If you took the option of "general sales taxes" (schedule A line 5b) the refund is not taxable
