Deductions & credits
You can only deduct the mileage if you go directly from your work site to the school. You cannot deduct the mileage from school back to home, unless the schooling is considered temporary (expected to last less than 1 year and actually does last less than 1 year).
You are allowed to deduct your mileage (54 cents for 2016) .. TurboTax completes form 2106, which then carries to Misc itemized deductions on Schedule A. You only get to deduct that portion of your misc deductions that exceed 2% of your AGI. and then only if your total itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction.
