You might be able to claim a portion of this for medical expenses if you were diagnosed with a condition related to black mold toxicity. The removal of the mold would be necessary to relieve or cure the diagnosed condition. The removal of the mold would be tax deductible, but the cost of scraping and painting, re-paneling, etc would not be. Removal only. AND there has to be the diagnosis of black mold toxicity or illness from the doctor, and you may need a doctor's statement of medical necessity.
