FOR TAX YEAR 2016
You can deduct alimony paid to or for a spouse or former spouse under a divorce or separation decree, regardless of whether you itemize deductions. To Enter those deductions please follow the steps below:
- Log into your TurboTax Account and select your 2016 Tax Return from the TImeline
- Once you have entered the return please find and click on the Federal Taxes tab
- A secondary tab will appear just below the main one. In this secondary tab please find and click on Deductions and Credits.
- Scroll down to find Other Deductions and Credit once at this section click on Show More
- From the drop-down list you will find the option to enter Alimony Paid.
