Is it required to give a property management company a W9 in order to share the cost of replacing a fence?
I just replaced an old waging fence at a single family home in California. The property next door is a single family home controlled by a property management company. I reached out to them to see if they could reach out to the owner to see if they would split the costs and the owner agreed to pay half. The work is completed and I have already paid the entire bill for the work. In order to get reimbursed the property management company is asking me to fill out a W9? Is this required even though I did not do the work myself? I would rather not send out my personal information. The bill was $2000 total which means they agreed to pay $1000.
