Tax Year 2016: Can I claim property taxes if charged a prorated (Jan-May 2016) amount at closing of house even if buyers will be making the payment on the taxes at the end of the year?
In WI, we were charged a prorated amount at closing for property taxes from Jan-May 2016, can this be deducted on my taxes even though the buyer would be responsible for making the payment on the taxes?
