I have 2 kids. Child 1 is from a previous relationship and child 2 is from a current relationship. I carry child 1 on my taxes every year. Child 2 was born in May 2016. Me and child 2 father did not live together all of 2016 and we split child care expense cost for child 2. Child 2 father will carry him on his 2016 taxes. I included child 2 and 1 on my taxes but listed child 2 as not a dependent (will be claimed on dads taxes). But since I paid child care expenses I listed him for that reason. I want to make sure I am doing this right and that I am not getting an EIC if I'm not suppose to. Its saying that child 2 is considered a dependent when I get to the EIC page even though I stated he is not previously.
