Yes. TurboTax automatically chooses the federal deduction that gives you
the lowest taxes, but you can override this selection at any time.
To switch to the standard deduction:
- Open your tax return.
(To do this, sign in to TurboTax and click the orange Take me to my return button.)
- So a search for this exact phrase: standard deduction and exemptions
(you can copy/paste from here), then click the "Jump to" link in the
search results and we'll take you to a screen where you can change your
deduction.
