How I determine my cost basis for an MLP? What exactly do I need and what do I add/subtract? HELP PLEASE

I have K-1 documents to determine my cost basis for MLP investments. What information on the K1s needs to be used (if any) and what from the sales schedule needs to be used, and how? Basically a serious amateur, please help.
