You may be eligible for an energy saving tax credit for the installation
of energy saving windows.
To enter it, type energy improvements in the search box and click on it in the drop down box and click on jump to.
OR You may be able to deduct your window replacement costs as a Non-business Energy Property Credit.
Qualifying improvements for the Non-business Energy Property Credit had to be installed in your main home and your main home must have been located in the United States. Energy-efficient improvements made to second homes or vacation homes do not qualify.

To record your window replacement costs into TurboTax Deluxe Online edition
If you have already started your return,
- Enter "energy improvements" into the TurboTax Search or Find box, then select "Jump to energy improvements"
- On the "Energy-Saving Home Improvements" screen select the “Yes” radial button and press "Continue"
- On the "First We Need to Know About Your Living Arrangements" screen select the option that applies to you
- On the "Energy-Savings Improvements for Your Home" screen answer the questions on this screen, then press “Continue”
- On the "Tell Us How Much You Paid for Energy-Saving Improvements" screen, only enter the costs for your Main Home
- Continue answering questions and pressing "Continue" until you get to the "Enter Any Additional Energy-Efficient Improvements" screen – then combine the costs from both your main home and second home (if any) for these items and press the “Continue” button when done
- Answer additional questions and press the “Continue” button until you reach the "Let’s Make Sure We Have the Right Address for Your Home" screen and use your main home address (unless all improvements were made to your second home), then press “Continue”
You should now see the Energy Credits that are available to you.
