Deductions & credits
That depends. If the class was required to keep your job or to maintain or improve your job skills, you may be able to deduct the cost as a work-related expense if you itemize deductions (file Schedule A). The deduction is subject to the 2% rule, which means it won't be fully deductible.
Whether claiming this expense will benefit you or not depends on several factors, including the cost of the class and your adjusted gross income (AGI). During the TurboTax interview, we'll ask you about job-related expenses and make sure you get the deduction if it applies to you.
Note: If you took the class to learn a new trade or job, it isn't deductible as a work-related expense.
