"Why do i need for 8889 if my 1090 shows HSA contributions?"
Because the IRS requires you to report all HSA contributions and distributions using F8889. It's purpose is to determine if your contributions are allowed (eligible) and your distributions are tax free.
(What is 1090? I assume you meant W2)
