Deductions & credits
Job-search expenses are no longer deductible in tax years 2018 through 2025 due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017.
In 2017 and prior tax years, expenses that were directly and exclusively related to your job search may have been partially deductible. The search must have been for a job in your current occupation and the expenses were subject to the 2% limitation, which means they could only be partially deducted, if at all.
