Yes, if you write a check. That is the only way you would get a "record." But some people do donate actual currency. There is no way "Currency" comes out on a bank statement. Therefore, if you contribute "currency," then keep a RECORD, whether you use Quicken or a spreadsheet. Like I said, I called the IRS. The answer was, "it depends whether or not you p*** off the Auditor...." My experience is.... if you make an effort to keep a "record" (using a spreadsheet or Quicken or QuickBooks), it should pass muster.
